LET'S GO ON A DATE!
No, this isn't about going out to eat at your favorite restaurant or dressing to the nines and dancing the night away!
Pick an important date like a birthday or anniversary. Let's say July 28th is that day. July 28=7:28. July is the 7th month and then day 28. Look up all of the chapter 7 verse 28's in the Bible. Some books may have fewer than 7 chapters. Skip them and go on to the next.
One that I like is:
2Sam. 7:28 And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:
If your birthday is June 18th, you would look up every chapter 6 verse 18.
Rom. 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
This is a good one, but there are other good 6:18's also. Do this with all the meaningful dates in your life. There may be only one or there may be several scriptures that fit you.
The next time someone asks you what your sign in the horrorscope is, tell them you don't have a sign, you have a scripture! They'll be like "huh"? Then you can give them your verse or verses!
You can do the same thing with the time. You look at the clock or watch and it's 2:10. Look up all the chapter 2 verse 10's. Keep a list of each time you check the clock and the verses you've found. Over time, you'll have quite a few memorized.
You go to the store for a few items. The bill comes to $11.28. Look that up. Or your change is $3.09. Look that up.
Play this game in the car with the kids. As a car passes you, read off the license plate. It'll go something like, "Hey kids, ABC 1234." The child who finds a chapter 12 verse 34 wins! Have fun and enjoy!
