Calling things that aren't as though they are
"You can call those things which are not, as though they were." Yeah. I've heard many people say this is Biblical. I've heard many pastors and tv preachers quote this as though it is written. You can have as much faith as you want in this, but it is ungodly. A person can believe 2+2 is 5 because it sounds good and they want it to be 5 , but that doesn't make it truth. Having faith in a perversion of scripture only results in disappointment. Choosing to hear what others say and taking their word for it, rather than reading the Bible for yourself will effect your belief. God made teachers to teach His word. But He gave you the sense to follow along and read. Here is the verse they twist.
Rom. 4:17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
God calls those things as though they were. "...even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things..." I, you, we, are not God. There are some things only God can do. What we can do is seek His will through prayer. We can let Him know our desires.
I wonder how many have left the faith because "things or situations" did not manifest as acting like little gods they thought they could call into existence.
